Over the years, fans in the United States have led their love for the character to another level and, after two years online due to Covid, Shrekfest is returning.

Shrekfest is exactly what it seems. Every year, Shrek fans gather to celebrate their love for the film, the festival presents live music with versions of Smash Mouth, games and a screening of the first Shrek movie at the end of the night.
Shrekfest is actually based on a false Facebook event that was announced in 2014. The festival was announced as a five-day shrek celebration with contests to eat onions and a roar competition. It was made clear that the event was a hoax, but a Superfan decided to make the festival a reality after seeing the interest of online fans.
Using the Facebook event as a model, Grant Druffin of 3Gi Industries celebrated his own Shrekfest in Madison, Wisconsin, the same place where the false event was supposed to occur. The first Shrekfest was fully funded by fans donations and only attracted about 50 people.
Despite this, Druffin and his friends did not discourage and could make Shrekfest bigger and better every year. Shrekfest's budget increased to $ 5500 and attracted more than 300 people with fans from the United Kingdom and Canada who traveled to the event.
Shrekfest presents many of the attractions that were announced in the initial publication of Facebook. The event takes place for one day and fans appear in mass dressed in their best Shrek costumes with green facial paint. The event is open to all ages and all games of the original event are still present. Fans can also enjoy free beer throughout the day.
When is Shrekfest?
After organizing the last two online festivals 3gi will bring Shrekfest to Humbolt Park, Milwaukee for the first time on Saturday, September 3 . The event will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the assistance is completely free.
